UK TV via the Internet – Proxy Server

I mentioned in my post about watching UK TV from Poland that if enough people were interested I would set up a proxy server for us all.  As a few people said they were keen I have been in contact with UK Proxy Servers and we have got the following offer:

  • £10 per month (including VAT)
  • Unlimited bandwidth (no abuse though – i.e. hammering it 24/7)
  • VPN Server (more flexible than a proxy server)

By routing your internet access via our VPN server you will no longer get the geo-blocking that throws up error messages along the lines of  “not available in your country” and will be able to access the following services just as you could as if you were in the UK:

  • BBC iPlayer
  • ITV Player
  • 4OD
  • Demand FIVE
  • Sky Player
  • Zattoo
  • TV Catchup
  • View TV
  • Eurosport Player

You can read all about VPNs to your heart’s content on the UK Proxy Servers knowledgebase.

If you want to join up or have any questions post a comment below or email me at ben@britishinpoland.com.  When enough people contact me I will set up the server and start handing out accounts.

I’m in the process of selling up in England and moving to Poland, is there any use for my SKY decoder and dish in Poland, or should i leave it in the UK?

  5. Ben says:

The dish probably isn’t worth bringing. Those sky ones are only small (40cm to 60cm) so aren’t that useful plus you can buy an 80cm one in Poland for 100 PLN or so. Regarding the decoder then that depends on whether you plan to try and watch Sky TV in Poland or not. If so then you will need your decoder, plus a bigger dish, plus you need to keep Sky thinking that you’re in the UK still. Hi All – it’s not worth setting up a server and paying a tenner a month when the guys at Hide IP VPN can give us what we need for 6 USD a month – please see here:
